An Idea Whose Time Has Come: The Convergence of Total Quality and Work Design

Summary: Approaches to implementing quality and other business improvement initiatives can be divided into two main categories: total quality management and work design. This article describes the elements the two categories of approaches have in common and provides an integrated approach for improvement. The authors believe that a better understanding of the two categories of change strategies allows for a synergy that is not possible otherwise.
