On Minimizing the Mean Detection Time to Failures Subject to Detection Error

Summary: Results from statistical search and detection theory are employed to establish a method for prescribing an optimal testing sequence for locating a failure in a series system when testing is subject to error. A numerical example is given for the case of exponential failures.
