An Optimal Quality Control Design for a Single-Product Serial Manufacturing System

Summary: The design of optimal, interrelated single sampling plans, manufacturing process quality level, and incoming quality level is considered for a single product manufacturing system. Cost components of the system are identified. A mathematical model is developed and the solution is derived using the dynamic programming forward recursion technique for the expected total manufacturing cost subject to an AOQL constraint. An example is provided.
