Confidence Limits for the Number of Defectives in a Lot

Summary: Engineers and scientists are often required to infer from a sample the number of defective items in a population. An exact method is discussed for obtaining that estimate for a finite population in terms of an upper confidence limit. Tables are furnished for certain population sizes from 2 to 100.
