Computer Programs: A Computer Program for Simple Linear Regression with Censored Data

Summary: Many practical problems require fitting a line to censored data, that is, data for which some of the observations are only known to be above or below a specific value. In relating stress to time to failure in a life test, for example, the unfailed units are censored at their current running times. This paper describes and illustrates the use of a simple computer program for analyzing such data. The program is based upon an intuitively attractive method involving the iterative application of least squares regression analysis.
