Skip-Lot Is Not Optimal In the Case of Independent Fractions Defective--Comments on a Paper by Professor Hsu

Summary: Optimal control strategies for independent and identically distributed fractions defective are derived. It is shown that, under these assumptions, skip-lot strategies as introduced by Dodge and Perry are not optimal. The proof is based on an analysis of the inspection frequency for a skip-lot sampling plan. Without completely specifying a stochastic process, Hsu uses another inspection frequency and consequently obtains results that differ from ours.
