Statistical Effects of Imperfect Inspection Sampling: I. Some Basic Distributions

Summary: (This paper was presented at the Journal of Quality Technology Session of the 28th Annual Fall Technical Conference of the Chemical and Process Industries Division of the American Society for Quality Control and the Section on Physical and Engineering Sciences of the American Statistical Association in Landon, Ontario, October 25-26, 1984.)In this, the first of a set of three papers devoted to a study of the effects of inaccuracies of inspection sampling for attributes, a few basic distributions are derived, and some quite extensive tables provided. These distributions will be used in the later papers, to investigate effects of faulty inspection in a number of commonly encountered inspection situations.
