Column: Technical Aids: Comparison of Poisson Means: The General Case

Summary: The common problem of comparison of counts arising from Poisson distributions is discussed and exemplified for any number of Poisson means and any values of associated opportunities. Confidence interval estimates when there are two counts are exemplified. The relationship between the nature of the alternative hypothesis and the power of the test is illustrated.
