Using a Correlation Test for Normality

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]

A test for normality is described that takes advantage of the independence of the average X-bar and sample standard deviation for normal distribution. The test is not sensitive to symmetrical nonnormal distributions. Probability paper is considered as a tool for use with the test when specifically testing for normality.
