Computer Programs Column: An Algorithm for Computing a Smooth Nonparametric Process Capability Estimate

Summary: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.] A program written in ANSI C that computes a kernel-based estimate of the proportion nonconforming is presented. The bandwidth for the kernel estimate is determined by using several multistage plug-in methods, which have proved to perform well in practice. These bandwidths and estimates of the process fallout rate are provided by the program.
