Composite Tests For The Gamma Distribution

Procedures are described for testing the hypothesis that a random sample can be modeled by a gamma distribution for the case of a known or unknown shape parameter. A new test based on the modified Greenwood statistic is compared with the presently available Anderson-Darling and Locke tests. Emphasis is on how to use each of the three tests, with recommendations for use under various conditions.
