A Graphical Method for Assessing Mean Squares in Saturated Fractional Designs

Summary: Motivated by Bissell�s method for assessing mean squares in saturated fractional designs, a new graphical method is proposed. This new method is applicable in cases where no degrees of freedom are available for estimating the variance of an error term. Effects are plotted on half-normal probability paper, although some practitioners prefer to use the full normal plot and some have proposed methods of enhancing the probability plot based on more formal methods for assessing significance. The graphical method is illustrated using several examples, including golf, glove boxes, and plastic welds.
