Assessing Production Quality with Nonstandard Measurement Errors

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] The performance of a manufacturing process is assessed in a situation in which samples from the process are measured with error. Nonstandard variance components models are required when the measurement error variance depends on actual characteristics of the measured part. It is shown that a Bayesian methodology can be used to calculate tolerance intervals for part distribution and to assess process performance. The incorporation of censored data is considered.
