Measurement System Analysis in a Production Environment with Multiple Test Parameters

Summary: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]A measurement system analysis (MSA) separates the variation among items being measured from variance components associated with the measurement equipment and repeatability. Using a variance component model as a basis, analysis of variance is used to model the variables of interest, resulting in estimates of variance components used to compute metrics that determine the accuracy of the measurement system for its intended purpose. While MSA is generally conducted in a univariate single-instance case, it is shown that the method may be extended to a scenario where multiple parameters are tested on each item with a sequence of tests. Industrial applications are used to demonstrate the techniques.
