Robust Individuals Control Chart for Exploratory Analysis

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] Control chart methodology is useful in both statistical process control and in exploratory data analysis. However, as the two applications are dissimilar, the methodology requires some adjustment to the exploratory context. Requirements for exploratory analysis control charts are listed and a procedure is proposed that meets these requirements, among which robustness against assignable causes of variation stands out in importance. The methodology is illustrated with two real-life examples.
