Determining the Time of a Permanent Shift in the Process Mean of CUSUM Control Charts

Summary: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]Control charts used to monitor for permanent shifts in a process do not indicate the exact time when the shift occurs, making it difficult to detect the assignable cause. A method for determining the time of a step change with control charts using the maximum likelihood estimator approach is extended to the CUSUM Control charts used in industry to monitor the quality characteristics in manufacturing processes.
