Graphical Representation of Run Length Distributions

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]Since the development of techniques to compute run length distributions for various types of control charts, practitioners have been encouraged to use them. However, practitioners are uncertain how to apply these distributions when making decisions about control chart design and performance. A graphical method of representing run length distributions is presented that allows for easy comparison of several distributions, a feature not permitted with standard methods of distribution plotting.
