Using Degradation Data to Assess Reliability

Summary: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]Life tests using a practical test duration yield little information about the reliability of highly reliable products. The advantages of using degradation data to assess reliability are demonstrated using a Bayesian approach. The uncertainty of reliability and lifetime distribution quantile estimates are easily determined. Additionally, calculating the reliability for a specified time of units with varying ages is easily accomplished. A laser degradation example illustrates the method.
