A New Approach for Multiple-Response Optimization

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]A breakpoint occurs if the desirability of a response increases in a linear manner from the lower specification limit to the target value and decreases in a linear manner from the target value to the upper specification limit. Modified desirability functions have been proposed to solve this breakpoint problem, but computations are complex. An approach is proposed that has fewer computations, is simple to implement, and is applicable when the lower specification limit, the target value, and the upper specification limit of a response are available. Additionally, the approach permits the assignment of different degrees of importance to the response.
