Identifying Need for New Factors in EVOP
Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]Evolutionary operation (EVOP), introduced by Box in 1957, was first applied manually to operations by teams who met frequently to determine whether EVOP should shift to a new phase. A recently developed automated EVOP approach has required a replacement be found for the team meetings to handle phase changes. A new method that capitalizes on the time series aspects of EVOP is described for determining when new factors need to be incorporated into the design. The method compares a time order-independent variance of the response variable with one that is time order dependent. Examples of the proposed method are given.
