Effect of Testing Normality on Estimating Process Capability Indices

Summary: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]Process capability indices used to measure manufacturing process specifications are usually based on the assumption that the process follows a normal distribution. Where there is uncertainty, the investigator must first use a test of normality that determines the form of the distribution and the index to use. This research examines the effect of the preliminary test of normality on the estimation of the four process capability indices.
