Optimizing the Formation of the Quality Improvement Teams Through a Data Mining-Based Methodology

Summary: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]A data mining-based methodology is proposed for designing and allocating the quality improvement teams in manufacturing enterprises. The technique first groups related quality problems, then assigns the problems to appropriate teams who, using a cost minimization model, analyze the expected costs associated with the quality improvement process. The technique is demonstrated in a case study of the quality problems encountered in electrical discharge machining for a fast hole drilling process.
