Self-Assessment Methodology: The Route to Business Excellence

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] The European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) business excellence model is a popular tool for use in organizational self-assessment. There is little evidence, however, that this or any other assessment methodology helps organizations link areas identified for improvement to business action plans at strategic, tactical, and operational levels. A possible solution to this problem is proposed using multiple criteria decision-making and the evidential reasoning approach in the self-assessment process. The intelligent decision system (IDS) can improve deployment of the self-assessment process and provide accurate and fast scoring for the organization.
