A Phenomenological Taxonomy for Systemizing Knowledge on Nonconformances

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]Nonconformances in the engineering and construction industry result in increases in costs and duration of projects. In practice, it is nearly impossible to identify and remove the root causes of each nonconformance; therefore, a classification is proposed to place them into four categories according to their appearances. The classification makes it possible to quantify and systemize the knowledge on nonconformances and provides an ontology on which further etiological methods can be conducted.
