Credible Estimation for Small Projects

Summary: [This abstract is based on the editor's abstract.]

A repeatable process is presented for generating defensible estimates on projects of two to six months duration, with two to six full-time equivalent personnel. The process uses work breakdown structure assignments to create estimates early in the project. By making the basis of the estimating explicit, the method aids in initial negotiation with management and subsequent renegotiation should circumstances change. Real world examples are used throughout the article.
