The Success of the SPI Efforts in India

Summary: [This abstract is based on the editor's abstract.]

In recent years Indian software companies have achieve level 4 or 5 of the software Capability Maturity Model (CMM). This article looks at the reasons behind this success. Factors have been group into three categories: people related, business related, and management related. Results show that success of software process improvement relies on a mixture of business necessity, natural advantages, and smart management.
