Test Vector Generation: Current Status and Future Trends

Summary: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.]

Advancements in the automation of test vector generation, the most difficult and costly step in software testing, are investigated. While a number of techniques have emerged in this area, it has been difficult to implement them into commercial tools. Some of the currently available commercial testing techniques are described. Model-based development tools are increasing in use because, in addition to traditional design and analysis, they support simulation and code generation. The challenge of translating development-oriented modeling language into a form suitable for automated test vector generation is addressed.
