Using the Verification Matrix

Summary: When Black Belts fail to develop a clear concept of how input and process metrics interact, their data collection and analysis efforts lose focus. Teams can then fall into a state of analysis paralysis that ends only when the project is cancelled. Using the 10 rooms of the verification matrix as a guide can help BBs avoid these pitfalls. The verification matrix is a reporting tool that connects work already being done to verify potential root causes. Once potential root causes are identified, the team can use the matrix to guide the construction of the equation for the process. The verification matrix also provides project stakeholders with a holistic view into the root cause validation process.
