Efficient Nearly Orthogonal and Space-Filling Latin Hypercubes

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]An algorithm is proposed for constructing orthogonal Latin hypercubes in a fixed sample size that offers more dimensions than earlier approaches. In addition, a method is presented that improves the space-filling properties of the resultant Latin hypercubes that induces small correlations between the columns in the design matrix. The designs were developed to give the Department of Defense flexibility in fitting models when investigating high-dimensional computer simulations where there is priori uncertainty about the forms of the response surfaces.
