Comparison of Three Multivariate Process Capability Indices

Process capability analysis often involves characterizing or assessing processes or products on the basis of more than one engineering specification or quality characteristic. When these variables are related characteristics, the analysis should be done on the basis of a multivariate statistical technique. Three recently proposed multivariate methodologies for assessing capability have been contrasted and compared. Using several graphical and computational examples, the information summarized by these methodologies is illustrated. This is followed by a discussion of their utility.
