Tutorial: Industrial Split-plot Experiments

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.]Experimenters seek to minimize the number of times the levels of hard-to-change (HTC) factors in an industrial experiment must be changed. However, by minimizing the number of times these levels are changed, the relevant information about their effects is also minimized. The structure and analysis of industrial split-plot experiments is explained to help practitioners identify split-plot experimental conditions, how to run the experiment, and how to analyzed the results. Basic background on experimental design and an introduction to first-order split-plot experiments is provided, followed by more advanced topics dealing with second-order split-plot experiments.
