History and Specifics of the Quality Movement in France

Summary: This represents the sixth in a series of articles on Quality Improvement Practices and Trends in Europe, with the first five pieces having discussed the progress of quality management and quality engineering practices in Demark, the Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Sweden, and Scotland, respectively. Future contributions will discuss such practices and trends in, among other nations, Ireland, Greece, Germany, Spain, and The Netherlands. The current piece presents an overview of twentieth-century quality improvement practices in France, viewed across six distinct periods. Brief summaries of such practices in two French organizations are also presented.
