The Effect of Power Sensor Variation and Measurement Error on the Uncertainty of the Mismatch Term of Power Sensor Calibration Factors

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] A real-world application of Taylor series approximation and other methods to predict distribution of a nonlinear measurement function are illustrated. A key concept is the mismatch term of power sensor calibration factor characterization. Following a tutorial on the standard technique for power sensor characterization, the uncertainty of the mismatch terms is derived and its tolerance limits are calculated. The effect of device variation is derived through sampling; the effect of measurement error is calculated through modeling. It is shown that the effect of mismatch measurement is minimal and that the accuracy of the calibration factors is improved after including the effect of device variation on mismatch.
