Process Capability Improvement for Multistage Processes

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] In multistage manufacturing processes common in today's manufacturing environment, variance reduction has been widely used to improve product and process quality. Consequently, quality control procedures for multistage have received considerable attention, whereas multistage process capability analysis has not. A multistage process capability analysis algorithm based on a multistage process variation transmission model is proposed to prioritize process improvement efforts. Expandability for the method is demonstrated with 2- and 4-stage industrial process examples.
