Monitoring Multiple Stream Processes

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] The monitoring of multiple streams in parallel to detect changes in the overall process mean and in the individual stream of gauge means is discussed. Two new control chart statistics are proposed based on an F test and a likelihood ratio test. These statistics can be implemented with or without process parameter estimates obtained from previous data. The methods are motivated by a truck assembly process in which wheel alignment characteristics are measured on each truck by one of four alignment machines arranged in parallel with the overall process.
