Illustrating the Use of Statistical Experimental Design and Analysis for Multiresponse Prediction and Optimization

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] This article illustrates the statistical design and analysis of experiments using plastic propellers in a typical prototype development situation. It compares unreplicated and replicated experiment analysis, explores prediction and presents two methods for multiple response optimization using constrained optimization and desirability functions. Enough detail is provided to allow the experiments to be carried out in a classroom or demonstration environment.
