RFID to Improve Traceability in Continuous Granular Flows—An Experimental Case Study

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] This study examines the use of RFID tags to improve traceability, an important quality for identifying the root causes of production quality problems, in granular media, for which individual product tagging is impractical. Experiments are studied to evaluate different methods of improving an RFID tracking system for granular media. Larger transponders and multiple readers are among the factors shown to improve traceability.
