Case Study - Teamwork Makes the Difference (On-line Only version)

Summary: Winning teams in the 2008 International Team Excellence Award program used a wide variety of quality tools to improve productivity, reduce injuries, cut costs, and improve overall quality. The Gold Award went to the Boeing C-17 USM Project Team for developing a universal splice machine that reduced repetitive motion injuries. The Silver Award recipient was Healthways, Inc., whose team used Lean/Six Sigma tools to improve member contact levels in a healthcare telephonic delivery model. Bayer MineralScience LLC took the Bronze Award for a project to establish a lean, statistically sound basis for selecting best value carriers, resulting in reduced line haul freight costs of more than $500,000.
