Internal Consulting Skills Enhance Quality Management Capabilities

Summary: The Association of Internal Management Consultants and ASQ teamed up to conduct a survey to assess the need for internal consulting skills among quality professionals. Evolving areas indicated by survey respondents as important to quality practitioners included client relationship management, rapid implementation and continuous improvement, and the ability to anticipate future needs. Skill areas cited as key for meeting future responsibilities by the most participants included process improvement, change management, and critical thinking and risk assessment. Feedback from respondents indicates the important role of consulting skills to quality practitioners.
