Insights for Creating a Renewed Sense of Significance for the Basic Concepts of Quality

Summary: This article offers practical insights for creating a renewed sense of the significance for some of the basic elements of quality. To accomplish this objective, the article is divided into two major sections. The first section offers two suggestions for promoting a renewed appreciation for the importance of concepts related to quality. The second section summarizes some of these basic elements or factors associated with quality that merit additional review in the context of the renewed sense of significance. The suggestions and insights are not intended to be prescriptive, but are offered to give practical alternatives for those involved in providing training related to quality or those actively engaged in managing or leading quality-related initiatives. To enhance the practical value of the article, attempts have been made to avoid being overly theoretical or reliant on theory. Instead, the insights offered, to a large extent, reflect the author’s experiences as a business professor, as well as experiences gained as a senior manager in a large healthcare organization.
