The Wisdom of Impermanence: A Powerful Tool for Embracing Change and Boosting Employee Engagement

Summary: This article maintains that for many of us, change is a significant source of anxiety that limits our performance and our potential. The author explains how we can train our minds to more effectively cope with change — and to even embrace change — which makes us significantly more effective in the workplace. The key is to transform our intellectual understanding of the constancy of change into wisdom about the truth of change by helping us to see change much more clearly, and thereby experience it viscerally versus only having an intellectual awareness of the fact that change has occurred. The author suggests that this wisdom helps us to become more kind and compassionate, more likely to serve others, and more effective at serving others, and that it may be the most important element of building and sustaining highly engaged, highly successful teams.
