A New Framework for Standardization and Certification for Process Assessment

Summary: Requirements for a major revision of ISO/IEC 15504, the International Standard for Process Assessment, have been defined. The revision will transform the standard into a collection of standards from ISO/IEC 33001 to ISO/IEC 33099. The standards framework thus created will be more open and have a greater range of application. The revised requirements would have the standard address the assessment of characteristics beyond process capability, the role of organizational maturity, and the assessment of processes outside the information communications technology. The new standards would also concentrate on verification and formal certification.
