Normal-Based Methods for a Gamma Distribution: Prediction and Tolerance Intervals and Stress-Strength Reliability

Summary: ´╗┐[This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] Inferential procedures are proposed for gamma distribution using Wilson-Hilferty normal approximation. This approximation is applied to several problems of the gamma distribution including computation of prediction intervals and tolerance intervals and inference on the stress-strength reliability parameter. Results show that the WH normal approximation provides a simple, unified approach for addressing the problems of gamma distribution.
