Incorporating Time-Dependent Source Profiles Using the Dirichlet Distribution in Multivariate Receptor Models

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] Earlier approaches to multivariate receptor modeling used to estimate pollution source profiles assume the profiles are constant through time. This study uses the Dirichlet distribution to develop a dynamic linear receptor model for pollution source profiles. The method is evaluated using simulated datasets and is applied to a physical dataset of chemical species concentrations measured at an EPA supersite.
