Nonparametric Profile Monitoring by Mixed Effects Modeling

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] Most existing control charts monitor only parametric profiles and assume that within-profile measurements are independent of each other. This study examines nonparametric profile monitoring when the within-profile data are correlated. A control chart is described that incorporates local linear kernel smoothing within the exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control scheme. The within-profile correlation is described by a nonparametric mixed-effects model.
