Functional ANOVA in Computer Models With Time Series Output

Summary: [This abstract is based on the author's abstract.] Computer models can be viewed as input-output functions. Formal sensitivity analyses are the usual method for assessing the influence of the inputs. One type of sensitivity analysis is the functional ANOVA, which uses an output variance decomposition to quantify the importance of each input. This article proposes a functional ANOVA for computer models with time series output and establishes the relationship between the sensitivity indices generated by this functional ANOVA and those previously existing in the literature. The proposed methods are illustrated with an automotive industry application.
