3-D Image Denoising by Local Smoothing and Nonparametric Regression

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] A novel noise reduction procedure is proposed for 3-D imaging, one of the few in the literature. The procedure is based on nonparametric estimation of a 3-D jump surface. It is capable of preserving edges and major edge structures such as intersections and pointed corners.
