Regression-Based Inverse Distance Weighting With Applications to Computer Experiments

Summary: [This abstract is based on the authors' abstract.] This article shows how to improve the prediction accuracy of inverse distance weighting, a method of multivariate interpolation with traditionally poor accuracy, by integrating it with a linear regression model. The combined predictor is flexible, efficient and effective for problems with high dimensions or large datasets. A heuristic method is presented for constructing confidence intervals for the prediction.
