Noncollapsing Space-Filling Designs for Bounded Nonrectangular Regions

Summary: Nonparametric predictors can be fitted to training data to explore then input-output relationship of a computer simulation. The accuracy of these predictors is enhanced by taking the training inputs as space-filling, and it is desirable that the design be noncollapsing, having space-filling lower dimensional projections, if there are inputs with little or no effect on response. The authors describe an algorithm for creating noncollapsing space-filling simulation designs for input regions that are bounded and possibly of high dimension.
